Sealord Hoki block
Sealord Hoki block is made from land or sea frozen Hoki fillet or mince. Blocks are available in a range of options designed to meet customer needs. Sealord Hoki has delicate, white, moist flesh which is succulent when cooked and is certified as sustainable by the MSC (Marine Stewardship Council). Suitable for most cooking methods.
Description
Sealord Hoki, related to hake, is also known as whiptail, blue hake, or blue grenadier. Sealord Hoki is MSC (Marine Stewardship Council) certified and found in New Zealand waters. It averages 60- 100cm (23-40 inches) in length and has an average weight of 1.5kg (3.3 lb). Hoki is caught by trawling in water 200-800 metres (650-2,600 feet) deep. Hoki is most abundant around the South Island of New Zealand. The species is fished year round, but the peak catching period is June to September.
Sustainability
