​Orange Roughy has pearly white flesh, of medium texture, and delicate shellfish-like flavour. Its average age is 80 years old. It is suitable for most cooking methods and suits a wide range of sauces and seasonings, making it ideal for restaurants, caterers and retail fish bars. These attributes, and its flexibility of presentation, make Orange Roughy one of the world’s most sought-after white fish.

Sealord Orange Roughy is a deep water species caught at depths of 700 to 1,000 metres (2,000 to 3,600 feet).

Orange roughy is sustainably managed under the QMS which uses scientific research to manage the fishery and ensure stocks remain healthy. New Zealand’s three largest orange roughy fisheries have been certified as meeting the international gold standard for sustainable fishing by the Marine Stewardship Council (MSC).
