Hoki

Macruronus Novaezelandiae

Hoki is also called Whiptail, Blue Grenadier and Blue Hake. It’s caught in areas around New Zealand including the Chatham Rise, Cook Strait, off the West Coast of the South Island and south of Stewart Island in subantarctic waters.

Orange Roughy

Hoplostethus atlanticus

Orange Roughy is a deepwater fish with pearly white flesh of medium texture and a delicate shellfish like flavour.

    Orange Roughy do not start breeding until between 20 and 30 years of age

  • Familiar Fish

    New Zealand has the longest running Orange Roughy fishery in the world

  • Carefully Managed

    For every 1000 adult orange roughy, around 45 are harvested each year

    Our Acoustic Optical System counts Orange Roughy at depths as deep as 1000m

Skipjack Tuna

Katsuwonus Pelamis

Our Skipjack Tuna is the most abundant of all major commercial tuna species. Their backs are dark purple-blue and their lower sides and bellies are silver with four to six dark bands.

Dory

Pseudocyttus maculatus (smooth oreo); Allocyttus niger (black oreo); Neocyttus rhomboidalis (spiky oreo); Allocyttus verucosus (warty oreo)

Our Oreo catch is made up of four different Oreo species: black, smooth, spiky and warty Oreo. It’s caught around the south of New Zealand.

    Dory live in deepwater in large aggregations feeding on plankton and crustaceans

    Dory begin breeding between 30 and 40 years of age
